Our aims

The foundation’s non-profit aim is to offer help and support to ‘official’ interveners and to the public in cases of domestic violence of a complementary or punitive nature within a married or unmarried couple, particularly when children are involved.

Our vision

Protect children by reducing the psychological impact of domestic violence against them within the couple and the household.

Our mission

We are committed to ensuring that the justice system is more favourable to victims of domestic violence. We are working to reduce the impact of this violence, which in turn affects children, often irreversibly. We are battling to improve their protection. We do this by informing and raising the awareness of political representatives, the Swiss authorities and the courts. We do this with the aim of changing their approach to domestic violence.

Our position

What we see touches us deeply. We suffer with the children who are the forgotten victims of domestic violence. Even when they are not themselves the direct victims of such violence, children who witness acts of violence between their parents or carers are profoundly affected. Their development is disrupted: they suffer psychological problems (anxiety, discouragement, distress) and bear the long-term consequences.

We listen carefully to the situation and feelings of these children. We are sensitive to what they are going through and to the suffering they are bearing. We find it intolerable that children should suffer domestic violence and we are committed to their well-being, so that they no longer have to experience this pain. We want to protect them from the consequences of domestic violence.

We are turning our consternation at the experiences of children affected by domestic violence into determination. Unwavering determination. A determination to change things. The more we research the impact of domestic violence on children, the more we realise the seriousness of the situation. We have to take action. And we need to act now.

That’s why we’re fighting to change things. We are battling to reduce the impact of domestic violence on children and improve their daily lives. We defend a culture of protection and support the proper use of public resources in favour of victims in the justice system. A legal system that favours victims rather than perpetrators. A judicial system that recognises the rights of these victims. We are doing everything possible to ensure that children no longer have to suffer the consequences of inappropriate justice, that they are protected as far as possible and are supported in the best conditions.

We can only achieve results by controlling our emotions and channelling our anger. We approach the issue of domestic violence from a rational, pragmatic and structured point of view. We are taking a fresh look at domestic violence by identifying, documenting and revealing the extent of domestic violence in Switzerland in a factual manner, using studies and new indicators. An extent that has until now been largely underestimated and undervalued.

We want fair justice. We focus on the judicial system and identify its dysfunctions and shortcomings in order to speed it up, simplify it and improve it. We make our political representatives and governments (confederation, cantons) aware of the direct consequences of dysfunctions that penalise victims and, by extension, children exposed to domestic violence. In doing so, we position ourselves as a competent, credible and indisputable partner in matters of domestic violence. We are a point of reference for the administrative and political authorities in matters of domestic and systematic violence with or without children.
